A disabled friendly hospital is one which enables people with disabilities to freely and safely move and access facilities within the hospital. Such hospital building provides an environment of independence to individuals with disability, which is their right granted under Persons with disability act, 2016. Patient with a disability is considered as a vulnerable patient and hospitals are required to take care of their safety. Being disabled friendly uplifts the image of a hospital and is also expected by various accreditation agencies. So what are those features that makes a hospital, ‘disabled friendly’? Rapid chaotic change is what foundations and government and payers have promoted most in health care over the last decade. In the attempt to shake up health care and promote value, core values have been disrupted. Cost, quality, and access have not significantly improved. Costs have increased substantially. Outcomes have not improved. Access has not improved where most Americans need access. Even worse, people have been taught that access is about insurance - not much help when workforce is not available. In many ways what has been done via innovation has been distraction from actually addressing cost, quality, and access. Keeping Perspective During Turbulent Times was a recent post by Commonwealth. It is quite interesting that those who have engineered turbulent times would craft such a post. The following is a representation from the perspective of basic health access. The Innovation Bandwagon Takes No Prisoners There is no stopping this train as so many new players are e...
Once again Americans are rallied to fight against the result (high prices) rather than what caused the high prices. More money is thrown at the diagnosis leaving less remaining for prevention of high health care costs and prices. The process is great for those who write the articles, capture the attention, and enrich themselves. It is also the easy choice. Exposing high health care prices as evil takes no effort at all. The real harm is done by those who promote what seems to be popular as they distract Americans from the real causes of high health care costs. The Biomedical and Micromanagement Waves that have long shaped runaway health care costs are the result of the same influences that shape higher prices and less for more Americans - by design. Higher costs are the result of advantages of designs that favor those bigger, those most organized, those who prepare to profit from the newest designs or implement them to their advantage, and those in the right locations serving the...
